HEERF II Deadline! Get Distance Learning Funding for your Sim Center

With the signing of the American Rescue Plan an additional $40 billion dollars has been earmarked to help colleges operate safely and provide assistance to students to help them complete their studies.

With this new round of funding it’s important to not forget that the deadline to apply for the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II) is quickly approaching on April 15th, 2021.

Can simulation labs use this funding?

Yes, but there are limitations. Simulation products that are software based and can be accessed remotely by students are eligible for HEERF II guidelines as outlined in the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA)

Under CRRSAA section 314(c), grant awards under these programs may be used to (1) defray expenses associated with coronavirus (including lost revenue, reimbursement for expenses already incurred, technology costs associated with a transition to distance education, faculty and staff trainings, and payroll);

That means that if you’ve been thinking of adding PCS Spark to your program, you may be able to get funding through the HEERF II grant program.

How do I apply for this funding?

Depending on your institution, the funding may have already been applied for by a central finance or budgeting office.

You can help your school’s administrators allocate these funds by telling them about the needs and benefits of distance learning technologies for the simulation program. Contact them before time runs out.
